“If money were the
only criterion by which a child’s welfare can be gauged, then a baby bought for
as much as RM40, 000 on the black market would seem set for life. For money-
rich but child poor couples, it is a small price to pay to introduce a small
life info into their home. The cot is gilded, the blanket monogrammed, the
college fund filled to the brim. All that’s wanting is a bun in the oven. And
where there is a baby-for-sale racket, money can indeed buy happiness. And
after all, why not? (NST, March 3,2013)
- Provide at least two (2) premises or two (2) counter arguments for the statement based on your agreement.
a)
Money
can buy happiness
The first premise is money can indeed buy
happiness. With money, we can buy anything that we want. For example, parents
that do not have children, they tend to buy baby even though with high price.
They don’t think about the price but what they think is happiness. For parents
that want a baby, they don’t care about where they get the baby even they get
the baby from black market. They believe that if they have baby, they will get
the happiness. Happiness is when we get all what we want. But there are some
parents that are willing to sell their children as they want to get the money.
b)
Black
market is not the issue for the wealthy.
Usually they are from the poor family
where they are no longer can support their family and lastly they have no
choice and have to sell their children. For them kids is not that matter as
long as they get the money, they willing to give their children to another
people. As for the above statement, it said that people willing to buy baby in
black market. This statement show that for those who come from rich family,
they will do anything as long as they get the happiness. It means that baby
bought in the black market is no longer the problem for the rich people in
order to get the baby in easy way.
